Enclosed blinds do not only look great on French doors, but can also reduce the drag and swing effects compared to using traditional curtains. With that in mind, here is a simplified yet complete guide on preparing and installing enclosed blinds on French doors.

To begin with, before you go ahead and buy a set of enclosed blinds, see to it that you know the specific measurements of your French door. Next, when buying, the size of the blinds should approximately match the door. After which, read through the manufacturer's manual, and check every component of the blind for damages. Moreover, gather your tools, including screwdrivers and other pieces of equipment specified in the manual, before you start working on the project so you would not have to look for them later. Also, be sure to clean the glass parts of the blinds well before you begin installing them. This will keep glass residue from falling into your eyes while you are holding up the items.

After all that is done, you may now begin with the installation. To start off, remove the old drapes from your doors and then unfasten a few turns on the old screws on the door frames. This will then allow you to pull the door frames apart to insert the new blinds. If you are having a hard time with this, you can use any small object as spacers to pull the frames apart while you are inserting the blinds. However, make sure that it has no sharp edges to avoid damaging the door. Furthermore, while placing the blinds inside the top brackets, see to it that it is aligned properly on both sides. After which, you may now remove the spacers, close the door frames and bolt the screws back in. Finally, test the door for stability.
